The client required a dual-tower FGD absorber system capable of handling 600MW of flue gas from a coal-fired plant. The operating environment involved continuous exposure to wet SO₂ at 50–80°C, pH 1–3 slurry, and high chloride concentrations — conditions that rapidly degrade unprotected carbon steel.
Jasmino delivered the project as a single-source solution — engineering design, equipment manufacturing, and corrosion protection were executed in-house. Two 16m-diameter absorber towers were fabricated from carbon steel with full internal rubber lining using our proprietary chlorobutyl compound, selected for its resistance to dilute sulphuric acid and chloride-bearing slurry.
Full thermodynamic modelling and CFD analysis of gas flow distribution. Designed spray headers, mist eliminators, and sump geometry to maximise SO₂ removal efficiency above 96%.
ASME VIII Div 2 design for both towers, with finite element analysis for wind and seismic loading. Total steel weight: 340 tonnes per tower.
2,400 m² of CSM-backed chlorobutyl rubber applied at our India facility. Spark-tested at 20kV per layer with zero defects recorded across all panels.
Modular delivery in 16 sections per tower. Our field technicians supervised erection, welding, and final lining repairs on-site over a 6-week installation window.
