The Challenge

The desalination plant required a pre-treatment system handling 50,000 m³/day of seawater with heavy biofouling. Aggressive chlorination (up to 5 ppm NaOCl) and acid dosing (HCl to pH 6.5) meant all wetted components needed exceptional chemical resistance in a marine coastal environment.

Our Solution

Jasmino designed and delivered 12 FRP filtration vessels with internal rubber lining, three chemical dosing skid packages, and interconnecting piping — all engineered as an integrated pre-treatment module.

Methodology

Our approach

01

Process Design

Hydraulic modelling of the three-stage filtration train — coarse screening, multimedia filtration, and cartridge filtration. Optimised backwash sequencing to minimise water loss.

02

FRP Fabrication

12 filament-wound FRP vessels rated for 6 bar operating pressure. Internal surface prepared and lined with natural rubber for seawater and chlorine resistance.

03

Dosing Systems

Three skid-mounted dosing packages — NaOCl, HCl, and coagulant — with FRP day tanks, metering pumps, and PLC-controlled dosing logic.

04

Installation Support

Full supervision of mechanical installation, piping tie-ins, and pre-commissioning flushing. System handed over with 99.2% availability in first 30 days.
